Known for its good sun record, Serre Chevalier offers numerous ski resorts as a base for a ski holiday.
Made up of 13 separate villages, Serre Chevalier offers attractive resorts that are renowned for their sunny conditions. The villages at Serre Chevalier are scattered and fairly quiet, the biggest being Briancon, which also offers the most away from the ski slopes. The ski area at Serre Chevalier is large at around 250km of mainly intermediate ski pistes, with not too much for advanced skiers. Although not lift-linked, Serre Chevalier is part of the Grande Galaxie ski pass offering a total of 1000km of ski pistes. The fairly low villages at this southerly latitude sometimes lack snow to the resort, although there is an investment in snowmaking to address the problem. Après ski in Serre Chevalier is somewhat restrained although there are numerous fine restaurants to be found.
