Chamonix - Mont Blanc

Chamonix is revered worldwide as one of the true alpine centres. A ski holiday in the resort of Chamonix offers genuinely dramatic scenery, access to some of Europe’s most challenging terrain and the option to rub shoulders with the leading Alpinists who descend on the resort.

Chamonix the resort is more a cluster of settlements that stretch along the Chamonix valley. The skiing is varied and somewhat unconnected. Given the altitude of the top skiing terrain there are some magical experiences to be had. The most popular being the Vallee Blanche – shot up to 3800m by cable car, there follows a (guided) traverse of a ridge that offers views of precipitous drops and genuine risk to those who disrespect it. The ski route down provides sensational and close contact with the ice of the colliding glaciers. Fear not, less extreme skiing is available in good measure and whilst beginners are not best catered for, intermediate skiers will find terrain to suit. Best still, even intermediates who have skied Chamonix have some degree of bragging rights.
