There are at least two very compelling reasons to go to the ski resort of Samoens
The ski resort of Samoens is blessed with wonderful architecture – it is listed by the French historic monuments agency, and has access to the Grand Massif ski area and the ski resorts of Flaine, Sixt, Morillon and Les Carroz. Samoens is also complemented by magnificent views of Mont Blanc. A further reason to go to Samoens is the short transfer to Geneva airport. Samoens is very traditional with buildings made of wood and stone, a great contrast to some other French architecture that continues to blight the Alps. The resort also has a good selection of restaurants and entertainment.
The skiing in Samoens best caters for the beginner and intermediate although there is advanced terrain to explore, and once that is exhausted the Grand massif awaits. For advanced skiers wanting the best then there is also heli-skiing on offer. Whilst Samoens is located at a lowly 720m the top height of 2500m is high enough to produce a decent snow record.
