The ski resort of Avoriaz has the twin benefits of location on the Portes du Soleil and snow-sure height. The Portes du Soleil consists of 13 linked ski areas that stretch into Switzerland. Of these Avoriaz is the highest, often offering the best ski conditions. Avoriaz is also well located for flights into Geneva. The skiing in Avoriaz caters for a broad spectrum of abilities. There are notably some challenging ski pistes in Avoriaz; some of the best advanced skiing to be found in the Portes du Soleil, that said, the wide cruisers for lower ski abilities are still plentiful in Avoriaz and further a field in the Portes du Soleil. When the extensive 150km of local, Avoriaz ski pistes are exhausted, there is immediate access to a further 500km of ski pistes. The ski resort of Avoriaz is purpose-built and designed for the skier and is set amongst spectacular scenery. Accommodation, the vast majority of which is self-catering, is well located, close to the pistes and ski lifts. Avoriaz is traffic-free and the après ski is reasonable in a handful of venues.
