The ski resort of La Chapelle, located on the Portes du Soleil, France
The traditional ski resort of La Chapelle makes up part of the Portes du Soleil ski area but has escaped the modernising pressures that have engulfed many other ski resorts in the Portes du Soleil. La Chapelle is lift-linked to the Swiss ski resort of Torgon and boasting over 70km of ski piste, the skiing is perfectly suited to beginners and intermediates. The ski area tends to be less crowded than others in the Portes du Soleil and the skiing is mostly tree-lined. The ski resort of Chatel is the nearest neighbour and beyond that the rest of the Portes du Soleil is on offer, providing huge ski resources, including the resorts of Morzine and Avoriaz. La Chapelle is a charming ski resort that has retained its character even down to the post-ski activities. These include various alpine activities and it goes without saying, traditional French restaurants. Lively après ski can be found beyond La Chapelle but unfortunately not in La Chapelle itself. The resort like all other in the Portes du Soleil has only a short transfer for those flying into Geneva.
