ski holidays in the resort of Meribel, France
In the heart of the 3 Vallees ski area, Meribel is amongst the top ski resorts in France.
One of the favourite ski resorts for the British, Meribel has a great deal to offer. Meribel is a charming ski resort which has resisted the rush to develop at all costs, a problem which has afflicted other resorts in the French Alps. Since Meribel is located at the heart of the 3 Vallees, it understandably offers fantastic skiing in the vast 600km of ski pistes. The skiing in Meribel itself consists of some 150km of pistes which generously cater for the whole spectrum of ski abilities. For advanced skiers who have exhausted the challenging ski terrain in Meribel, or simply skiers looking for a bit more variety, the ski areas of Courchevel and Val Thorens are easily accessed. Meribel is dominated by chalet accommodation which has been developed sensitively, but the lack of hotels has rather given Meribel an imbalance of accommodation and fewer restaurants than other ski resorts of similar size. That said, Meribel is attractive and boasts one of the best après ski scenes in France, with numerous bars and clubs. The night life is all action but being France, it is worth checking the cocktail prices before you get in a round.
